Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutics of Digitalis Glycoside

Abstract
|
|
|
The prevalence of cardiac diseases; hypertensive and ischemic heart diseases, was gradually increased recently in Korea, and accordingly the digitalis might be more frequently prescribed for therapeutic purposes.
Recently, the knowledge of the action and pharmacokinetics of digitalis was remarkably advanced, and the prevalent complication of digitalis with its ominous prognosis could be reduced and the therapeutic effects of digitalis would be reinforced by the sound knowledge of the action and pharmacokinetics of the commonly used digitalis.
The present review was undertaken to describe the recent advancement of knowledge of the action, pharmacokinetics and toxicity of digitalis.
